Tuna Fudge is a favorite dog treat recipe of both our dogs and the Wags & Wiggles family in attendance at dog agility trials. It's nutritious and easy to make. The dogs crowd around us in anticipation of their tasty reward.
We have experienced tremendous triumph with this canine snack formula as a teaching aid for choosy canines who are typically not motivated by treats.
Here is the version we have more-or-less perfected. A 15oz tin of Salmon (instead of tuna) also works out nicely. You could potentially replace it with rice flour if your dog has wheat sensitivities, but you might need to experiment with the texture a little.
Recipe for Homemade Tuna Fudge Dog Treats
Components.
2 6oz. Tins of tuna in H2O (do not empty).
2 eggs.
1 1/4 cups multipurpose/wholemeal flour.
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese.
Tell us about your experience with the recipe!
Place the components in a food blender and lightly blend to fragmentize large pieces of tuna and thoroughly blend it together. If a food blender is unavailable, fragmentize the tuna with a fork and subsequently incorporate the remaining components.
The texture should be dense, yet damp, akin to cookie batter. If it appears excessively dehydrated, incorporate a small amount of water to hydrate it.
Mist or thinly cover a 9×9 baking dish or pie pan with olive oil. Pour the combination into your pan and distribute it uniformly with a spatula.
Cook at 350°F for 25 minutes.
Allow it to rest until it reaches a lower temperature and then slice it into small delectable portions! They will remain fresh in the refrigerator for approximately seven days. Additionally, you have the option to freeze them in order to prolong their lifespan.
This canine snack formula produces 1.5 - 2 cups of treats cut into 1/4 inch cubes.
Please inform us of the outcome!
